about me
Originally from Elizabethtown, KY (like the setting of the not very good movie), I got my bachelor’s in Popular Culture Studies and Journalism and my master’s in English Literature at Western Kentucky University. I cut my teeth as a student journalist before writing professionally for The Chautauquan Daily and Houstonia Magazine.
After four years in different roles at Kendra Scott in Cincinnati, I accepted the copywriter position I’d been dreaming of in 2022 and moved to Austin in 2023. Since then, I’ve been sharpening my copywriting skills, eagerly learning more about art direction and production management, and, overall, focusing on being the most well-rounded creative I can be.
When it comes to writing, my approach is rooted in curiosity. I ask thoughtful questions so I can understand the “why” of what we’re doing. I think it’s important to consider the tiny details alongside the big-picture ideas—and then see how they coalesce. For me, great work usually comes from digging a little deeper and learning something new along the way.
In my spare time, I’m:
Reading voraciously to maintain my average of ~138.9 books a year and to learn new words I can deploy in my day job
Seeing something new at Alamo Drafthouse or catching something old on The Criterion Channel
Watching—and rewatching—Survivor and thinking about how it’s the greatest game ever invented (and yes, it’s still on TV)
Trying every possible coffee shop, truck, trailer, and stand in the Austin metro area with my partner
Being chased around my apartment by Mina (my vivacious calico cat)
